"We found Santiago through an online search for local house painters, after jobs with two other house painters fell through. We were at our wits' end. We called Santiago, and within the hour, he returned our call. We set up an appointment for him to see our house and he came exactly when he promised. That was our first glimpse at Santiago's strong work ethic and professionalism. While here, he gave us excellent suggestions regarding priming, paint finishes and handling certain problem areas. We felt confident that he had experience with older homes and would do a nice job. He and his crew came on the scheduled day and proceeded to do everything we discussed. The house looks fantastic! We are so happy every time we look at it. He even scraped, sanded and painted our old wrought iron stair railings so they would look as great as the house. (A pleasant surprise!) We waited until after the house was finished to pick out a color for the front door and he came back a couple of weeks later and painted it. (It looks great, too.) We highly recommend Santiago and would definitely call him again for any future paint jobs. His professionalism, attention to detail, punctuality and great personality made him an absolute pleasure to work with."

"The services including power washing and staying both the main house and a separate garage.
In the late winter we asked for an estimate of the cost for the work. That was done promptly and the price was reasonable (and compared to two other estimates). The project was planned and happened beginning in April, partially dependent on weather. The power washing occurred first and then allowing a period for drying. The staining happened over a period of two weeks. The results were excellent. Working with Mr. Martin was a pleasure, including regular email updates from him. We highly recommend the services."

"Very nice job, large crew that was professional, owner on site with crew. Hardworking, polite and friendly. Everything cleaned up at the end of every day. House looks great!"

"Santiago and his crew were highly professional and a delight to work with from start to finish. They were very thorough, and caught things that I did not even see which needed attention. They clearly love their work, and the job was done on time and to my great satisfaction. Thank you Santiago! - Best,"

"First step was to prep the house; they sprayed entire house with a bleach-based cleaning solution, and then rinsed with hose and power washer. The existing oil-based, semi-transparent stain had several places where mildew and moss were present; the cleaning treatment removed all of this. Also, the existing stain was about 15 years old so the treatment removed most of the old stain. I was very pleased with the results of this process.
Second step was to do the windows (this was the biggest part of the job). All windows had aluminum combination storm/screen windows screwed to the outside - the crew removed all these aluminum window frames before starting on the house windows. The house windows were scraped to remove loose paint and glazing, debris was vacuumed, windows were re-glazed as needed, and then painted with two coats of self-priming paint. Two minor concerns with this process: (1) They started the process by applying glazing compound directly to wood; I asked them to prime any raw wood before applying glaze and (I think) they ended up priming before glazing. (2) They completed most windows within a single day which meant the glazing compound had minimal chance to dry before being painted; the results look great so this shouldn't be a problem, but it did mean they were unable to clean the window up next to the new glaze and we have a lot of freshly painted, smudged windows. Not a big deal to us, but be aware this is a characteristic of this painter. All combination windows were reinstalled without incident. All in all, the windows really look good.
The final step was to stain the house and paint the window frames, soffits, etc. Everything was applied with brushes (no spray work) and it went great. We have some difficult places to reach (high peaks, areas over a glass solarium, etc) but they did everything from ladders. Everything was done in a professional manner, and the results for this "scrape and paint" job more than met our expectations.
A couple of things to keep in mind. First, this contractor expects you to provide the supplies (paint, stain and glazing). He will provide product selection guidance if asked, but you need to purchase the material and have it on-hand when he arrives to do work. Second, remember that these guys are painters, they are not general contractors or restorers. If you have damaged or rotted sections, they will paint the stuff but won't fix it. They did replace a couple of window panes for me and apply caulk to cracks, but don't expect them to tackle more serious problems.
In the past, I've painted my house and out-buildings. These guys did a far better job than I was ever able to do, and made less mess in the week and a half they were here than I do in a single afternoon! I'm pleased with the quality and value of their work."

"Santiago provided an estimate within a few days of contact and gave me a projected time frame for the work. The work was started and completed on time and within budget. He and his crew were very neat, clean and professional. They went above and beyond what was expected of them, and did it very cheerfully. I would hire them again without a moment's hesitation!"

"We hired Santiago and Sons to paint the exterior of our house in July 2015. Of the 4 bids we looked at; the owner, Santiago Martin was the only one who offered his liability insurance and licensure during our vetting process. Once we hired Santiago and Sons to paint our house we found the painters extremely courteous, professional and committed. They came when they said they were going to, worked all day, and picked up everything each evening. Santiago was accessible via his cell phone when not on site and communicated regularly while on site. Upon project completion we reviewed the work together with Santiago and we could tell he wanted to ensure we were pleased. We were very satisfied as they did not take short cuts and wanted to make sure the house was exactly how we envisioned it. We would highly recommend Santiago and Sons for any painting project you are considering."

"Santiago painted the entire exterior of my house, primed, fixed holes and power washed my two decks. Extremely well. Quick, efficient, friendly and professional."

"Dear Homeowner:Santiago Martin and his crew recently worked on my kitchen and guest bathroom. They did a great job. The bathroom just needed “freshening up,” but my kitchen suffered from a lot of ice damage because of the terrible winter we had this year. One wall in particular had cracks all over it.
They did a great job at a very reasonable price. They worked right through and were in and out of my house in just over five hours. Even better, I was able to use my kitchen and bathroom immediately. Done, done, and done!
If you need a professional-looking paint job, are on a budget, and want to keep the disruption to your life to the bare minimum, Santiago is the man to call. I know that I will call him again for my next paint job. - Sincerely,”

"Couldn't have gone better. Santiago was the first to reply to my email and he came the next day to give us an estimate. I never even saw anyone else; I hired him on the spot. He started on the day he said he would and it was a wonderful experience to work with someone as lovely as Santiago and his son and his other helpers. They took great pride in their work and it shows. I wish every job went as well as this one. I HIGHLY recommend Santiago and his team. If I could have given them an A+ I would have.
Thanks, Santiago. You are the best!!! I can't wait for you to put the movable screens and plexiglass windows on the porch next spring. Brilliant idea!"

"Due to our schedule, we had to reschedule twice. Santiago and Antonio were extremely flexible and finally did the work after their work day had ended when my wife, who has a paint allergy, was away from home overnight. They were extremely professional and genuinely nice folks. Their work was efficient and of the highest quality. When I paint, and I've done a lot of it, there are always paint drippings down the outside of the can. When they paint, the cans are as spotless as they were new! And our rooms are refreshed and really look good.
I plan to hire them to do all of our future painting. At days' end, we sat down and had a sandwich and drink together and they headed back to Pittsfield, over an hour away. They are good men who do great work."

"I am an architectural color consult and heard about Santiago through a colleague. I have much experience with painting contractors through my work, so when Santiago asked me for this testimonial, I was thrilled to oblige. After I selected colors, he painted several rooms in my Victorian condominium including my living room, dining room, and kitchen, which included much ornate woodwork. I had gotten several bids for the job, and his price was the most reasonable. My experience was extremely positive throughout: Santiago was always friendly, punctual and professional, and his painting was impeccable. Please feel free to contact me for further information."

"We received a prompt reply to our request for an estimate on the job. Shortly thereafter we had the estimate which covered all the aspects of the job. We met to select colors and discuss the work. It was scheduled for early spring, weather permitting, and was started and completed in April. The job was completed quickly and without incident. There were no clean up problems. Most of the work was fine but there were a few issues where stray paint had to be removed, especially from a roof visible from a bedroom. On close inspection there are a few flaws in the trim and some peeling. But it was a huge job and we are satisfied."

"Santiago and his crew came exactly when they predicted they would be ready to begin the job. They were polite, respectful, energetic, and hard-working. They finished the work within the framework of their estimate and we were delighted with the result. Another contractor (a builder/carpenter who has worked for us in the past) admired the job and commented that it looked like a new house (in fact, the house is 275 years old). When there was some minor touch-up needed after the first winter, the painter came without any delay, scheduled the work, and completed it quickly and much to our satisfaction. Over the past couple of years, some further touch-up was needed and, true to his word, he came back and did the work. After three years, we would not have been surprised if he had asked us to pay for the touch up work, at least for the materials, but he did not charge us a penny. Each time he has come to do these minor touch-ups, his crew has left the house looking as if no one had been there - clean, neat, everything back in place. His attitude has been friendly, respectful, professional, and he clearly wanted us to be satisfied with the job. It is rare, but very refreshing, to find a craftsman who takes such pride in his work and who is so highly motivated by an old-fashioned work ethic.
We were so satisfied with the exterior painting that we engaged him further for several interior paint jobs, finding again that his work and his crew were excellent. We have comfortably given them our house key for times when we are away and have been very satisfied that they left our house as clean and neat as we would wish, in addition to doing a first-rate painting job. His pricing always held to his estimates, and the prices have been very fair.
We have recommended him to neighbors who have also had an excellent experience with him.
Over many years of engaging contractors, including painters, he is among the top people we have been fortunate to work with. If there were an "A-plus" grade available in Angie's List ratings, we'd give it to him."

"Santiago and his crew power washed the exterior of our cedar house and the decks and then stained both.
When I first contacted Santiago by email he responded immediately and was able to look at the project and give me a price within a day. His price was fair and he scheduled the work immediately. Santiago was tremendously knowledgeable, professional and responsive--great to deal with and very concerned with doing a good job and getting all the details just right. I was not on site when the work was done, but he sent me photos at every stage so I could follow his work. I would absolutely use him to do any job again and highly recommend him."

"I hired Santiago Martin Professional Painter to paint a fence. He, his Antonio and his crew are very polite and courteous and take pride in their work and do an excellent job. The area was left clean. I would hire them back anytime."

"Santiago Martin, his son Antonio and his team power washed and scraped our entire clapboard farm house before applying a tinted primer and then painting the final coat. We had chosen Heritage Benjamin Moore paint, which was included in the fee, and he made excellent decisions about highlighting the trim. He even voluntarily made small repairs to our sun porch roof as well as painting the stair railing."
- Kathryn Darrow, 211 Luce Rd, Williamstown, MA 01267
“Santiago stayed in closed contact through all this rain and was willing to work on Saturday and Sunday to get the outside of our big two-story painted. He spent a great deal of time on scraping and sanding so that we would not experience the peeling that we did from the last painter, and he did not leave a mess like the last painters either. He was courteous, hard working, and a bit of a perfectionist. We couldn't have been happier and would recommend him without hesitation. He responded to my email immediately and was always in close contact.”
- Jess Kielman, 267 Onota St, Pittsfield, MA 01201
"I highly recommend Santiago and his crew. Based on previous estimates from other contractors, I think that his price was fair and I was very satisfied with the work they did. He showed up when he said he would and they always put in a full day. He and his crew were friendly and courteous and always cleaned up when they were done for the day. When removing the shutters on my house became problematic, Santiago quickly offered to stain my deck (which was not part of the original scope of work) to make up for the time he had allocated to removing and reinstalling the shutters. Even though it was a contract job, I never got the sense that Santiago was rushing the work in an effort to get done sooner - doing a good job was always the first priority. All and all, it was my experience that Santiago is fair, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. A job well done."

"To whom it may concern,
Santiago is professionalism and efficiency. The three worked tirelessly and finished the work well within the time frame. They paid great attention to detail and the result is stunning. Communication with Santiago was very easy throughout the process and his work ethics are very impressive. I can recommend Santiago Martin Salas to anybody who is looking for a high-quality painter and am happy to answer any questions that may arise. I wish Santiago, Pedro and Roy all the best for their careers."

"To Whom It May Concern,My husband and I just had Santiago Martin and his crew paint our house in Alford MA. We can't say enough good things about the work they did! Although we had some rainy weather, they were careful to paint on the sunny days and to fix any effects from bad weather. Their thorough preparation of our house before they painted -- with power washing -- was wonderful.
Santiago is also a real artist with a great sense of color. When we found a green we liked that was different from the green on our house he encouraged us to use this more earthy color. We were all very pleased with the results. We appreciate his honesty. Their work ethic is unsurpassed. They arrived when they said they would and always called if there was a reason. When they worked they worked straight though, with no loud music, talk, or hanging out drinking beer -- like lots of crews. We've never had nicer people working around our house. They have beautiful manners and "good vibes". It seemed like the job went very fast because of the way they worked so gracefully. We would recommend them to anybody and would be delighted to have them back. - Sincerely,”

"Hi, my name is Carol, and I live in Lenox. I hired Santiago to paint my kitchen cabinets, two bedrooms, and a large hallway with a staircase. He did an excellent job all around. He and his crew were very reliable. I changed the color three times, and he was more than happy to accommodate me."
- Carol Peters, Lenox, MA
"My deck was very moldy, and I was considering having it removed and replaced, which would have been very expensive. After speaking with Santiago, he suggested power washing it and staining it instead. I did have my doubts, but he did a wonderful job, and my deck looks as good as new! I was so happy with his work, I also hired him to paint the exterior of my home this summer."
- Michelle Hamlin
"To Whom It May Concern:Santiago Martin painted my house and did an outstanding job. He coordinated the colors of my house perfectly. His clean up was impeccable. When I asked Santiago to paint my shed and also paint my hatch-way doors, he was more than happy to do it. He used special paint to paint the metal doors. This was not discussed in the contract beforehand but he took the time to do it to satisfy me. He was always good natured and very accommodating to my needs. I strongly recommend Santiago for a professional painting contractor. - Sincerely,”
